I sometimes joke that if I ever run for public office, I will just have to flat out tell the truth when people ask where I’m from. I grew up in Virginia, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois, but when I was 18, I got smart, moved to Iowa and have never looked back.
Now I’ve lived here longer than I’ve ever lived anywhere else and I can’t really think of moving. In 2004 I moved from Grinnell to Iowa City to start my post-college life. In 2011 I moved from Iowa City to Des Moines to advance my career and follow my heart. Almost three years later and I’m still learning what the city, “our fair Capitol,” has to offer.
